Love has many definitions, but the one I like the best is by Dr. Erich Fromm. He wrote: " True Love is not an Emotion. It is the Creative Process between individuals where all respect the other's giving and receiving care, respect, knowledge and responsibility".

I have used another definition in the past: "Love is giving without expectation of any return. Expectation of a return makes the giving a direct business transaction".

There are three events I am delighted to be part of.

The first is the "10 K for K9". I encourage anyone to take up the challenge to complete the 10 kilometer "run" in the "Great Human Race" on May 3, 2008. I give the proper advice to make most anybody reach the endurance level to run, jog or fast walk the 10 kilometers to complete the Great Human Race. All it takes is about 15 minutes per day to get ready for this challenge. If you insist on actually running, we have to add another 15 minutes in April to get you ready. We will deal with training optimization, so no major muscle or other effort will last longer than 30 seconds at any time, but repeated after a minimum of 30 seconds of rest. When You register for this, I encourage You to assign the Alberta Guide Dog Services to be the recipient of the donations you are supposed to raise as encouragement for your efforts.   Click here to get to the Great Human Race registration site.

The second is on Saturday June 14, 2008, at 6:00 PM. It is a promotion for the Alberta Guide Dog Association. Ryan Kucy, a blind youth, will again drive my race car at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin Alberta, with me acting as a talking dog (navigator), in the for this event installed passenger seat. Last year we won the race between eight blind drivers.  Here is what i had to tell "Paw Prints", the newsletter for the BC and Alberta Guide Dog Services about the 2007 race. See pages 8 and 9.

The third is on Monday September 8, 2008, at 12:30 PM, I will rappel down the 27 story high Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton. To take part in that, I have to encourage my friends to raise a minimum of $2,500. Link to the site, and more information here. The Drop Zone. I encourage you to make whatever contribution you can for this event.

My particular aim in the Eater Seal Drop Zone event is to provide enough funding for five kids to go to Camp Horizon for a week. One week at the Easter Seals Camp Horizon costs $460. Add some surrounding expenses, and $2,500 will provide for five positive lifetime memories. The lifetime memories that the institutions these kids get must be balanced by the positive experiences that You may be part of. Check the link again and contribute what you can.
